Duodecimals

Print / Typography

Close-up of the calendar, which features two new glyphs.

BRIEF

Design new glyphs for the Arabic numbers 10 and 11, effectively creating a fully functional base-12 number system. Afterwards, incorporate them into a modular calendar that showcases the numbers’ typeface.

CONCEPT

Using Minion Pro as my base typeface, I created the two new glyphs so that they blended into the existing forms gracefully. This was achieved by picking apart the various features from existent numbers and using them as reference for the two new glyphs. I incorporated them into a calendar that only uses shades of blue and non-intrusive styles so the focus of the piece was on the number forms.
